Big Boy

Tonight when you were in the bath, it struck me what a big boy you are. I took you to the doctor for your 3-year checkup on Tuesday. I just got around to putting your height and weight in your baby book today (37 3/4 inches and 32 pounds). LAST year you refused to do your height and Mommy had to hold you, get on the scale, put you down and get on the scale again so the nurse could do some subtraction to come up with your weight. THIS year, you got right up on the scale, let her get your height, and even your blood pressure! You let the doctor look in your ears and mouth and do the rest of your physical. The only shot you got was the flu shot and it was over so fast you didn’t even tear up!

Michael got the Show & Share bucket for the first time at preschool today. The letter of the week is 'l' so he's taking Leo (from the Little Einsteins), Lightning McQueen (from the movie Cars), a stuffed lion and his leaf blower tomorrow. He will show and talk about his toys during circle time.

I haven't even taken it out of the box yet, but my new Nikon Coolpix camera came today! I'm so excited because it's small enough to carry with me where ever I go, but still should take great pictures. Thanks Debbie, Ron and Kyle! This is what I used my Christmas Amazon gift certificates for.

Random thoughts of Michael...

We got Michael refrigerator ABC magnets at Toys ‘R Us today. It will be fun to show him how to spell his name.

He calls the cones road workers set out ice cream cones. He came up with this all by himself.

For about a week or so, he wanted to “wake up all by himself” but for the last two days he hasn’t wanted to. What goes on in that cute little head of his?

Michael and Max are so happy the big kids are home after the two week winter break.

Michael and Sissy put all of Michael's trucks in the kitchen "garage" after dinner. I put them all away after Michael went to bed (because they were in the way unfortunately) and I'm sure he'll yell at me in the morning.

Michael got his first Scholastic book order today. He's growing up so fast!

January 2, 2009

Michael doesn’t want to sit in his booster seat at the dinner table anymore. We took it off of his chair and he said it needs to go to Grandpa’s house(?). Later, when he was having his after bath snack (a chocolate muffin with milk tonight) I got under the table to try to take pictures of his cute little legs in his blue monkey jammies as he was sitting on the chair without the booster seat watching Ice Age 2. He wiggles too much and most of them were blurry. He finally noticed I was under the table and wanted to know what I was doing under there. So I told him and asked if I could take his picture. He surprised me and let me take a couple snapshots. Of course, he wanted to see them immediately after I took them. Usually he’s not interested in letting me take his picture, so that was fun.

His current catch phrase is “What’s the big idea!?” We thought he heard this on Imagination Movers, but we were watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse this morning and Donald Duck said this so now we’re not so sure where he picked this up, but it’s dang cute!

New Year’s Day 2009

We had a fun day today. We went to the Panera in the Tech Center for breakfast and from there we went to the Denver Zoo. I got some great pictures and Michael had a good time running around. He wanted to see the hippopotamus’ and kangaroos today. Interesting since he usually wants to see the elephants and penguins. He also announced he’s afraid of snakes.

Tonight Chris, Michael and I played 3 board games that Michael got for Christmas (Brown Bear, Brown Bear, the Ladybug game and dominos.) I’m glad he wanted to play, because we’d already watched Ice Age 2 at least twice today and still had an hour until bedtime. He’s learning to take turns so that’s a good thing.

It appears our Upline online backup is finally in the process of restoring the files we lost when our Western Digital My Book Pro bit the big one. Thank goodness because the best quote I can find is $460 and 2-3 weeks to restore. It looks like I’ll lose all of my pictures of Keila’s birthday party at Amazing Jakes, making cupcakes for daycare for Michael’s birthday, Michael’s birthday and Christmas with the Isemingers :-(

I’m going to participate in Project 365 this year. Basically you take one picture a day every day of the year. Sounds like fun to me!

Chris and I are both off tomorrow and we’re going to go see Gran Torino. Jeannie says it’s really good so I’m excited to see it!
