Week of Apr 12

Like a triangle that completes a shape in space, the language of three gives a feeling of wholeness, of completeness. i.e. beginning, middle and end; blood, sweat, and tears; here, there and everywhere; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; executive, legislative, judicial; I came; I saw; I conquered; Kyle, Keila & Michael.

To STL 10:45 am. Arrive 1:45 pm. Staying at Drury Inn Union Station, 201 S. 20th St., St. Louis, MO 63103.
Late lunch at Houlihan’s at Union Station. Chris and I shared Chipotle Chicken Nachos (just okay) and a bacon cheeseburger (delicious!)
Michael rode some rides, we got some cookies from Nestle’ and we went to a toy store called Play & Learn. He got a triceratops, a crocodile, 2 t-rexes, 2 books (Hide-and-Seek Dinosaurs! And Hide-and-Seek Big Trucks and Diggers.)
Michael and Chris went swimming in the hotel swimming pool.
Debbie gave me a beautiful jade bracelet that was Grandma Mae’s. She also gave me a hard bound family tree album and a print out of the Sharp/Hungate and Iseminger/Drumright family trees.

Sat, Apr 11
Went to the Saint Louis Zoo. Chris got a funnel cake-his favorite! Then we went back to our room so Michael could take a nap. When he woke up we took the MetroLink to Busch Stadium for the baseball game (for Jason’s 30th bday & D’s first)-St. Louis Cardinals vs. Houston Astros. Michael got a free Cardinals baseball cap when we walked into the stadium and Debbie got him a stuffed Fred Bird (their mascot.) Unfortunately, Michael was ready to go almost as soon as we got there. We were under an overhang and with the wind it was sooo cold! I really wanted to drink a beer, but when Debbie got coffee, I had to have some and only made it through about half of my Bud Light. The best play of the game was when the St. Louis Cardinals’ Albert Pujols hit a grand slam in the fifth inning. Jason was in the beer line and missed it! Pujols hit another home run in the seventh inning and Jason almost missed that one too!
Dinner at the Hard Rock Café at Union Station. I had ribs and they were just okay. Michael fed the Koi that are in the lake there.
Kyle got in a fight with “some Mexican kid who called him racist white names.”

Chris saved us $850 total on our airline tickets to Springfield in June. He was looking to see what the price was for September (for Jason’s wedding) and noticed the June tickets were $95 less (per ticket) than we originally paid. He called United to see if they would give us the better price. The agent said the fee to change was $150 (per ticket.) Chris said, okay, I’d like a full refund to my credit card. How much will that be? As it turns out, there was no fee because there was a schedule change (of one minute.) The agent put Chris on hold to do the refund but had problems with his system. Chris had to wait on hold for maybe 5 minutes. The guy came back on and said for the inconvenience (of being on hold) he would be sending 5 $75 vouchers to us (one per ticket.) Chris then turned right around and rebooked our tickets. We’re leaving later but coming home on the same flight. Total savings - $850 for a 5 minute phone call. How crazy is that?!
